This has been a subject of speculation since Chester Taylor's exit, but it's nice to see confirmation from the head coach. Peterson already doubled his career-high in receptions last year, and he should see another uptick in 2010. Once considered a much better value in standard scoring leagues, Peterson could flirt with 50-55 receptions this season. Toby Gerhart will be utilized as a more traditional backup.

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings NFL Network's Mike Mayock predicts that Adrian Peterson "could get 400 touches this year" if Brett Favre indeed retires.
Mayock attended Vikings camp Tuesday and interviewed Brad Childress. "I believe Adrian Peterson is going to get more touches than in any time during his career," said Mayock. "... They're going to have to get conservative. We hate the term `manage the game.' But that's what Tarvaris Jackson's gonna have to do. I don't think Sidney Rice is gonna have 83 receptions." August 3

Moss' addition may not solve Minnesota's run-blocking flaws, but the offensive line will benefit from simply having fewer defenders to beat off the snap. Moss requires constant double teams, something no Vikings wideout could command in the first three games, outside of Percy Harvin on occasion. Already averaging 5.6 yards per carry, the idea of Peterson now facing consistent nickel defenses is scary. He's now the favorite to lead all running backs in fantasy points this season.

AP has been disciplined by coach Brad Childress twice before, once for showing up late to the team's bus and once for showing up late to a meeting. He missed one series of a game for the first incident and two series for the second. However, both of those occurrences happened the day before a game, so the penalty could be less harsh since it came on a Monday.

Peterson watched the rest of the game with his pads on from the sideline, hinting at a "standard" ankle sprain.

"Now it's just a matter of what he can or can't do," said Frazier. "We'll know a little more (Wednesday) as he tries to put some weight on it and move around. We're anxious to find out how he comes along." Peterson is expected to be limited if he practices at all on Wednesday. He could end up as a game-time decision against a weak Bills run defense, so Peterson owners should have Toby Gerhart on hand for insurance.
